Welcome to part 2 of Footy's Draft Rankings extravaganza!
Dallas Mavericks
First Round Pick/s
3 - Hasheem Thabeet C 7'3'' 265 21 C+ C D+ A- B- A
Second Round Pick/s
3 - Jerel McNeal SG 6'3'' 200 22 C+ B- C+ C+ C- B
The Mavs are a team looking to the future and what better way to build a franchise then locking in arguably the best defensive big man we've seen since Greg Oden. Thabeet has all the tools to become a perennial Defensive Player of the Year and being picked at 3 in this draft is justification of his talents. He will grow and blossom and become a force within the league. McNeal was a nice pickup in the 2nd Round and could emerge as a sleeper from this draft.
Draft Grade: A
Houston Rockets
First Round Pick/s
5 - Greg Monroe PF 6'11'' 240 19 B- C C+ B- C+ A
The Rockets are building something special out in Houston and coupling Monroe with the superstar quality of OJ Mayo indicates the Rockets may well be a powerhouse within the league soon enough. Monroe is a young, somewhat raw Power Forward however the expectation from many is he will be a future all-star within the league. A nice pick from the Rockets with no real fault.
Draft Grade: B+
Minnesota Timberwolves
First Round Pick/s
1 - Blake Griffin PF 6'10'' 240 20 B C- D+ B- B+ A
11 - Brandon Jennings PG 6'1'' 170 19 B- C+ B C D A
19 - Jeff Teague PG 6'2'' 185 20 C+ B+ B- C- C- A
21 - Omri Casspi SF 6'8'' 220 21 C+ C B- C+ C A
28 - Lester Hudson PG 6'3'' 190 24 B- C+ C+ B- C B
Second Round Pick/s
4 - Dionte Christmas SG 6'5'' 190 23 C B C+ B- C B
Wow. That pretty much sums up the Timberwolves draft. They were spot on with just about every pick. Griffin is and will be the best player from this draft and Jennings and Teague are both steals. However with 5 Point Guards expect at least one to be moved in due course. Casspi is a nice pick however, like many others, maybe Ogilvy would have been a better pick. Hudson was a nice pick late in the draft but the last thing they needed was another point guard. Christmas was a great pick in the second round.
Draft Grade: A
San Antonio Spurs
Second Round Pick/s
13 - Jonas Jerebko SF 6'9'' 225 22 C+ C- C- C C+ B
The Spurs werent expecting much and consequently came away with not much. Jerebko wont start in this league.
Draft Grade: C-
Vancouver Grizzlies
Second Round Pick/s
Gasper Vidmar PF 21 6'11'' 225 C C- D+ C C+ A
The Grizzlies are just hoping the potential that many see in Vidmar comes through, if not he could arguably become the worst player seen in the PWW.
Draft Grade: D+
Oklahoma City Thunder
Second Round Pick/s
Chris Lowe PG 22 6'0'' 170 C C B- C D C
Another team with not much to really look forward to going into the draft and they come away with not much to really help them.
Draft Grade: D
Denver Nuggets
First Round Pick/s
13 - DaJuan Summers SF 6'8'' 240 21 B- B- C C+ C B.
The Nuggets had a lotto pick and come away with this? Whilst Singler, Ogilvy, Mills, Williams, Collison and Teague are still on the board? Arguably the worst pick of the draft, Summers may one day become a decent role player but at the end of the day there was at least 5 players who are destined to become far greater players than Summers will ever be.
Draft Grade: D
Utah Jazz
First Round Pick/s
7 - Jordan Hill PF 6'10'' 230 22 B- D+ D B- C+ A
Second Round Pick/s
8 - Danny Green SF 6'6'' 210 22 C+ B- C B C B
The Jazz had a very nice draft indeed. Their biggest decision was choosing Hill over Mullens but I think they chose the right one. Hill will be a very good player for a very long time. Green was just a stud choice this late in the second round. Just a perfect draft for the Jazz.
Draft Grade: A
Golden State Warriors
Second Round Pick/s
Curtis Jerrells PG 22 6'1'' 195 C+ C C+ C+ D+ B
Another team with only a second round pick going into the draft and the Warriors walk away with Jerrels. Not a horrible player but certainly not a good one.
Draft Grade: C
Los Angeles Clippers
First Round Pick/s
15 - Tyler Hansbrough PF 6'8'' 245 23 B+ C C- C- B B
Second Round Pick/s
15 - Stefon Jackson SG 6'5'' 185 24 B- B- C- C C- C
The leagues runner-up certainly benefited from losing in the finals as it allowed them to keep their 15th pick. Unfortunatly however they probably could have made more of this pick. Hansbrough however is not an entirely bad choice, he and Dwight Howard should be great compliments to each other in the Clipper frontcourt. Jackson may become a solid 7th or 8th man of the bench.
Draft Grade: C+
Los Angeles Lakers
Second Round Pick/s
K.C. Rivers SG 22 6'5'' 215 C+ C+ C- C+ C C
An already stacked team the Lakers went into the draft with only pick and came away with Rivers. Nothing special at all.
Draft Grade: C
Phoenix Suns
First Round Pick/s
27 - Kyle Singler SF 6'8'' 225 21 C+ B B- C- B- B
Second Round Pick/s
AJ Price PG 23 6'2'' 190 C C+ B C+ D+ C
Robert Dozier PF 23 6'10'' 210 C+ C C B- C B
After a disappointing offseason the Suns looked for ways to improve their squad for the next season, however never in their wildest dreams did they expect to land Singler with the 27th pick of the first round. Pegged as a possible future all-star many had Singler going top 15 and so picking him up at 27 is a huge reward for the Suns. Price and Dozier are both solid second round picks who may or may not be of worth into the future.
Draft Grade: A
Portland TrailBlazers
First Round Pick/s
20 - Jerome Jordan C 7'0'' 235 22 B D+ D B- C+ B
24 - Andrew Ogilvy C 7'0" 240 20 B C C- C+ C A
Second Round Pick/s
2 - Kevin Rogers PF 6'8'' 230 22 B- C C- C C+ C
The blazers would have to be stoked with thier draft. Picking up Ogilvy late at pick 24 and Rogers at pick 2 in the second round they shouldn't have too many complaints. Jordan was maybe picked a little high however a solid PWW career lies ahead of him. Nice work Blazers.
Draft Grade: A
Western Conference Steals
First Round Pick/s
19- Jeff Teague
24- Andrew Ogilvy
27- Kyle Singler
Second Round Pick/s
4- Dionte Christmas
9- Danny Green
Until next year, Arriverderci!
