1. Minnesota Timberwolves[/u]
Blake Griffin PF 6'10'' 240 20 B C- D+ B- B+ A
Already PWW-ready and with bags of potential too, he is probably the best player in the draft and has a legitimate shot at being one of the best power forwards in the league. He’ll fit into Minnesota’s rebuilding plan perfectly, and will certainly be their franchise player.
2. Cleveland Cavaliers[/u]
James Harden SG 6'5'' 220 20 B B C+ B C- A
With Greg Oden currently holding down the fort as the defensive monster up front, there was no need to draft the similarly talented Hasheem Thabeet, hence James Harden would be ideal for the Cavs. Without a true SG in the team he should fit in well, able to contribute right away as well as develop strongly in the future. Like Griffin, he is a franchise player going in to a rebuilding team.
3. Dallas Mavericks
Hasheem Thabeet C 7'3'' 265 21 C+ C D+ A- B- A
Dallas still requires an improvement at the 3, but their need for a better center is stronger. Wilson Chandler still has time to develop into the SF role, but Koufos looks like he’ll be riding the pine for some time, and with Hasheem Thabeet available at #3, he is the obvious choice for Dallas. Couple him with Aldridge and they look to have a twin-tower like duo up front that will torment PWW for years to come. That defensive-offensive combination will be a nightmare for the rest of the league.
4. Philadelphia 76ers[/u]
Tyreke Evans SG 6'5'' 195 19 B- B- B- C C- A
Philly are another young team looking to improve. With Chris Bosh and Kevin Love up front already, their need for good young studs at PG, SG and SF is far greater than their need for another big. With versatility and star potential in him, I think Tyreke Evans will be a good fit in Philadelphia. Earl Clark is another option, but Tyreke Evans will allow them to have a solid offensive threat from a guard position rather than the jack of all trades player in Earl Clark.
5. Houston Rockets
Greg Monroe PF 6'11'' 240 19 B- C C+ B- C+ A
O.J. Mayo is the franchise player in Houston playing the 2 spot, and with Mike Conley, Jeff Green and Brook Lopez looking like developing into their respective roles at the 1, 3 and 5, the only hole in this line-up is at the 4. Greg Monroe looks like the obvious choice for Dallas, although it wouldn’t surprise me if Earl Clark was taken here, as I think he is the better player. In terms of needs though, it would make more sense to go for Monroe.
6. Indiana Pacers
Earl Clark SF 6'9'' 220 21 B- C+ C+ B C+ A
Indiana need another player to go with Dwyane Wade, and the best player available would certainly be Earl Clark. So long as the Pacers still look at rebuilding, Clark would be the right choice to make here. Like Wade, he can do a bit of everything, and looks like he could be a very special player one day.
7. Utah Jazz[/u]
Kyle Singler SF 6'8'' 225 21 C+ B B- C- B- B
Utah is set at the guard position with J.R. Smith and Derrick Rose in the team, and they also have solid youngsters at the other 3 positions. I believe they would want to upgrade mostly at SF though, with neither Joe Alexander or Danilo Gallinari ready to play as it stands. Singler looks like he can do a bit of everything already, and would certainly help out the Jazz. Their only concern with him should be his lack of D, especially as the rest of the team lacks D too, but his all-round game should make up for it.
8. Milwaukee Bucks
B.J. Mullens C 7'0'' 260 19 B C- D+ C+ C+ A
The Bucks need better big men to compliment the rest of their starters, but with Josh Smith able to man the 4 with Rudy Gay playing the 3, the Bucks should look to draft a big, but more specifically at center, hence why I went with Mullens. Should they want a better contributor right away, Tyler Hansbrough may be considered, although he is a little too undersized to play the 5.
9. Atlanta Hawks[/u]
Victor Claver SF 6'10'' 225 21 C+ C+ C C+ C A
Atlanta look like they have a solid team throughout, but a PWW-ready player like Hansbrough will benefit them greatly. Having said that, with a lot of Hawks still being rather raw, they may not need to fill that PF spot with a draftee, and play Beasley there, meaning there would be a need for a SF. I can see them looking to take another risk and keep on the rebuilding route, and if the upside is true, Claver will be a solid addition to the team.
10. Orlando Magic[/u]
Tyler Hansbrough PF 6'8'' 245 23 B+ C C- C- B B
Orlando have a huge hole at PF, so Hansbrough looks like a good choice. He is PWW-ready right now and is better than any prospect pick they could make at other positions. Should Orlando want to take a risk though, I can see them going for someone who looks like they have a lot more potential to grow, such as Jordan Hill at this position.
11. Miami Heat[/u]
Jordan Hill PF 6'10'' 230 22 B- D+ D B- C+ A
Miami could choose to play Jordan Hill at the 4 or the 5, and even consider utilising Bargnani’s shooting touch better at the 3 if they choose to play Hill at the 4. There isn’t much point going for a guard with Miami having Deron Williams, Renaldo Balkman and Randy Foye already, so Jordan Hill looks like a safe bet with a skill set that is typical of a solid big.
12. Minnesota Timberwolves[/u]
Evan Turner SG 6'6'' 200 20 B C+ C C+ C A
With Blake Griffin selected 1st overall, Charlie Villanueva scoring at either the 3 or 4, and with Rajon Rondo manning the point, it looks like Minny would be after an upgrade at the 2. Evan Turner looks like he’ll be a good pick if that potential holds true, giving Minny another good young prospect for the future, developing at the same time as Rondo and Griffin.
13. Denver Nuggets
Brandon Jennings PG 6'1'' 170 19 B- C+ B C D A
Best player available is Brandon Jennings without a doubt. Seeing as Denver need a PG, this would be the natural selection too. If his defense improves he could be a nasty all round point guard, but that’s a big if. I could see teams higher up being tempted by Jennings too, but to me that lack of D is a big turnoff, and I’m not sold on many PGs in this class… but he’s still the best of the lot. Denver would be happy to pick him if he falls this far.
Blake Griffin PF 6'10'' 240 20 B C- D+ B- B+ A
